An Evening with Candace Johnson

On Tuesday January 21st WiTT was privileged to host a fireside chat with Candace Johnson, a leading innovator in the satellite and space sector, and a campaigner for diversity. Candace, nicknamed ‘The Satellady’, is a pioneer in the European satellite industry, founding the SES satellite business close to 40 years ago. Since then she has founded or co-founded Loral Teleport Europe, Europe Online, OWNSAT (Oceania Women’s Network Satellite), VATM, and the Global Telecoms Women’s Network. She is currently Chair of the Advisory Board and Partner of Seraphim Space, Founding Vice Chair and Member of the Board of NorthStar, Member of the Board of the Vusion Group, Executive Member of the Board of the International Chamber of Commerce and Vice Chair of their Policy Commission. She is also a member of the International Advisory Council of the Saudi Space Agency.

Candace has been a leading campaigner for diversity in the telecoms and tech sectors. In addition to being the driving force behind the Global TelecomsWomen’s Network and OWNSAT she co-founded the Global Board-Ready Women’s Network to respond to global corporate governance needs for more gender diversity on publicly-quoted company boards.
